I got into reading for pleasure after college when my required reading was cut dramatically. I'm sad to say, until that time I never really read for pleasure. A friend recommended Watchers by Dean Koontz. I read it, loved it and then found Lighting, another Koontz favorite.

Now I pick up every new book he writes, which is costly because he is so prolific. He does about a novel per year. Amazing. I highly recommend him. Although he's often compared to Stephen King, I find him less about horror and fantasy and more about love and good triumphing over evil.
